Here's what an enthusiastic student has to say about teacher Trees Zegers: 'She's a lovely, enthusiastic and thorough teacher of ballet and jazz. She has danced all her life, and comes from a family of dancers. Trained to be a dance teacher and state-certified, she works with different age and level groups, children and a lot of adults, her students are aged 4 to 80. Ballet classes are accompanied by live piano. Twice a year she will arrange a weekend workshop, with two professionals from both the ballet and jazz world (amongst others dancers or teachers from the Dutch National Ballet) to give two lessons (intermediate and advanced) a day. These weekends are always a lot of fun. She keeps herself up to date with the ballet world (traveling to other dance schools in Europe and observing classes), and incorporates these experiences into her classes.'
My correspondent says that she started classes with Trees Zegers as a child, but only went back to it at age 19. She found that other Utrecht studios weren't giving the kind of training in ballet that she needed, but after adding just one class with Trees, her classmates noticed the rapid improvement. So if you are in Utrecht, and wanting to begin ballet in the right way, don't miss this opportunity.
